Dear Prospective Buyer

We wanted to share some of our favorite things about living here:
The sunsets: We are going to miss the sunsets from the deck. We have an absurd number of photos, and even after years we still call each other to come look.
The unpaved road: This ended up being one of our favorite parts. Very little traffic, very quiet, and you can hear when a car is coming. It feels calm and safe.
The path at the end of the street: It connects to the next block and gets a steady stream of foot traffic. It’s useful for guest parking and a regular route for dog walkers.
Lincoln Square: It’s just up the street and very convenient. It’s our go-to for a quick grocery run, the UPS store, or a coffee.
The neighborhood: There’s an active WhatsApp and email group, a regular block party, and people actually help each other out. It feels like a real community.
Downstairs layout: This worked extremely well for guests. Separate entrances gave everyone privacy, and the separate HVAC kept things comfortable.
Storage and extra space: There is a lot of usable storage, including a hidden spot above the stairs.
The garden: We planted natives and milkweed, and it reliably brings monarchs, bees, and hummingbirds.
Access to nature: It’s very close to Redwood Park for hiking, and there are plenty of good neighborhood walks.
A small local detail: Tom Hanks grew up a few houses down and visited the neighborhood while we lived here.
We’ve put a lot into this home and have really enjoyed living here. We hope it works just as well for you.

about this

Neighborhood

Redwood Heights sits comfortably in the Oakland Hills, named after an old logging road that curves through the area. This friendly neighborhood shows off Oakland's history while offering plenty of modern amenities.

The streets are lined with beautiful older homes built in different styles. You'll find Craftsman houses sitting next to Tudor-style homes and French-inspired architecture, many dating back to the 1920s. Most have been kept up nicely over the years, with updates that make them comfortable for today's residents.

Nature is a big part of life in Redwood Heights. Peralta Creek runs through 9 acres of protected land where local wildlife makes its home.  A neighborhood nonprofit, Native Environment Watershed Transformation, or NEWT, has worked hard to clean up and restore the creek, and they often take school kids on educational walks along its banks. Right next door, Redwood Regional Park offers tons of outdoor fun with nearly 40 miles of trails perfect for hiking and biking. The park's 1,800 acres include beautiful redwood trees, evergreen forests, and open spaces that make you forget you're still in the city.
